Central bank says forbids dividend payments to foreigners
MOSCOW, Mar 2 (PRIME) -- The Russian central bank has forbidden foreigners from receiving income on securities of local companies, including dividends, it said on Wednesday in a statement.
"Besides, (the central bank) has sent an order to the depositories and registers to discontinue writing off Russian securities from the accounts of foreign investors and to suspend payments on these securities," the authority said.
"The issuers have the right to decide on dividend payment, other payments on securities and transferring them to the registry. But payments to the foreign clients by the depositories and registers will not be effectuated. This concerns OFZ as well."
The central bank earlier prohibited foreign investors to sell the Russian shares.
